Your morning start up can typically be hectic, rushed, and not too enjoyable (especially if you take NYC public transit - eye roll). Morning meditation can really set the tone for the rest of your day, but commonly to most of us the word meditation sounds like work. In fact we think of mediation as having some sort of outer body experience, when it's really only the experience of being present with yourself, even for a few moments.
In reading an excerpt from an old Huffington Post article I found a great connection in a self meditation that will literally only take you one minute. Take the time before leaving home or even as soon as waking up to gently repeat these words at least four times to yourself. Say them silently or aloud while placing your hands over your heart:
May I be safe,
May I be happy
May I be healthy,
May I live with ease.
After saying this to myself for the third time I had an overwhelming feeling of self love and gratitude. We can't always help life being so busy, but slowing down if only for a few minutes can change the course of our day and maybe our entire attitude.
If you appreciated that chant, here's another that's worth noting. I have it sitting in my living room as a daily reminder.
