Tricia Zee Shop & Hey Mija together turning a new page.

This isn't exactly meant to be a "New Year, New Me" kinda post but I guess it's somewhere along those lines. Many of you have followed and supported Tricia Zee Shop before it was even officially an online shop. From many amateur Instagram poorly lit posts taken on my bedroom nightstand to the now spread of product pages on the Tricia Zee Shop store.

The beginning stages of Tricia Zee Shop

I've learned a lot about myself in the journey to grow this business and am still learning every day. I even expanded the shop to include apparel in November of 2020 with the help of a beloved friend.

Hey Mija started as an idea to bring inclusiveness and relevance to our Latina culture through what we wear and how we express ourselves. Having both of us come from careers in a fashion industry where we felt overlooked and misrepresented. It was also important for us to acknowledge that the support and strength that you can gain from having a community be at the core of our mission as well.

As you can imagine, starting anything from the bottom up is a challenge. Since those first days, we've made great strides and valuable connections both with women (even a few little women) and with the messages that brought some of us a little closer to our heritage. Hey Mija is now just a little over a year old, and just like any toddler, it's a handful. As a team, Laly & I have nurtured this project and helped her grow but starting 2022 we wish Hey Mija's co-founder and owner of Diaz Designs, (a.k.a our Laly) nothing but luck on her very own projects and career. The contributions and love she put into Hey Mija stay rooted in what we've built together.

So, what does that mean moving forward?

Well, just to reiterate...having only one business is a handful, nonetheless two of them. In the hopes to keep my sanity (somewhat lol) I have decided to slowly merge both accessory and apparel ideas into one platform. The message of self-love and empowerment continues to ring true through Tricia Zee Shop, only it'll just have a bit more of Hey Mija's Latina spice sprinkled on top. While much of the Latino heritage is currently incorporated into the designs, I also honor the NY culture I grew up with and the spanglish nature of my existence. Moving forward I'm excited to explore new ideas that can bring NYC and the (da) Bronx into some new future pieces. With these projects being that much more personal I believe the message will be much more powerful and intentional.

What about the website and social media platforms?

For now, the website layout will still feel pretty familiar although you may see both shops combined moving forward. This just means for now you may see both accessories and apparel alongside each other on the main shop page.

If you follow both @TriciaZeeShop and @HeyMija.us Instagram pages you may see a gradual shift to our main shop page where you can shop the store directly off the posts and stories. You will also see these posts on our Tricia Zee Shop Facebook page.

As always, thank you all for following me on this journey and for supporting a vision that will continue to grow with your support. I'm excited for what 2022 can bring and hope you are too!
